Rayleigh Town Museum
91 High Street, Rayleigh, Essex, SS6 7EJ‘Rayleigh Through the Looking Glass’ is a local history group who over time have acquired a significant
number of Rayleigh related artefacts. These include postcards, maps, books, ephemera and much more. While a number of these have been displayed at regular exhibitions held in the town, the group felt these precious items deserved a home of their own therein lay the idea for the museum.
The museum opened in April 2016 to help celebrate the town’s vibrant history and story. It is housed in a 14th century timber framed Grade II listed building in the Rayleigh Conservation Area in the centre of the high street.
The Museum consists of three rooms, each sponsored by local businesses.
