Shoebury Common is a blue flag beach that has been recognised for its water quality, beach cleanliness, and safe pedestrian areas. There is also ramped disabled access to a wooden platform.
The common is home to Uncle Tom’s Cabin which offers a large selection of ice creams, light refreshments, and everything you need for a traditional fun family day beside the seaside. Buckets and spades at the ready!
Enjoy walks along the beach hut lined promenade that offer spectacular views of the Thames Estuary that offer a variety of maritime movement.
There are also chargeable facilities to launch boats and jet-skis, and the area is known for kitesurfing.
Please note that a BBQ ban is in place – There is a current Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in place banning the use of BBQs on all Southend Beaches.

Dog Control Orders:
No dogs are allowed on Southend’s beaches between 1st May and 30th September. Every person in charge of a dog (except guide dogs) who permits the dog to enter or remain on the beach during this period can be fined.
