EKCO: 100 Years of Design and Innovation in Southend
Southend Central MuseumThis exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of EKCO and explores the importance of its history, innovations and designs.
EKCO – a local business that became a global name in radio and domestic design between the 1920s and 1970s, was the largest employer in Southend during its lifespan, and continues to evoke local pride and joy, nostalgia and storytelling.
The exhibition features some of the most iconic and important designs from the company, such as the Wells Coates designed round radios, which are some of the most recognisable objects in the history of 20th century design.
The show will also pay homage to the impact the company had on the local community, incorporating images and oral histories of the people that worked at EKCO.
