Make your own Scrunchie

The Forum, Southend-on-Sea
2.00 pm to 4.00 pm

All profits from this workshop go towards supporting Lady McAdden Breast Cancer Trust.

This workshop is taking place as part of Lady McAdden’s summer art exhibition Palette to Prevention.

Please note – there are two x 1 hour sessions at 10am and 11.15am

‘The Minus Cloud Nine (MCN) Team feels extremely passionate about sewing; our founder, Charlotte, started sewing at 17 years old, and hasn’t stopped since!

Our beginners sewing class, taught in small groups of up to five, will get you to feel comfortable with basic sewing skills; it’s the perfect introduction to sewing!

By the end of this session you will have:
• A finished upcycled MCN scrunchie made completely from scratch by you!
• Learned basic stitches
• Built your confidence using a sewing machine
• Practiced sewing in straight and curved lines manually and by machine
• Gained general sewing machine skills such as winding a bobbin and changing the machine needle

WHAT’S INCLUDED

The class includes guidance from our experienced founder, use of a domestic machine, materials and equipment (tools, threads, etc), and knowledge so you can make again at home!

You will leave with your very own MCN signature scrunchie (worth £12) and enough knowledge to be able to make your own from home. Our scrunchies have a signature MCN messaging on them saying ‘KEEP GOING’ which we feel is very fitting for this event and to empower individuals who may be loosing their hair to Keep Going.

Disclaimer: The workshop can last anywhere between 30 – 70 mins depending on the individual.’
