Southend Airport station was officially opened in 2011 to improve transport links to London Southend Airport. When the airport was built in the 1930s, the mayor at the time remarked on the need for a railway station. Built in 23 months, the station is stylish and modern and just 100 paces from the airport terminal and just a stone’s throw away from the Holiday Inn Southend.
