Summer in Southend

Summer is finally here and there couldn't be a better time to #VisitSouthend.

Whether you’re a resident, a seaside regular or this is your first time, we want to make sure you have an enjoyable visit, so check out our handy tips below to ensure you make the most of your time here, even if there weather is not playing ball!

#SummerinSouthend

Before your visit...

Book Ahead | You can book tickets to attractions such as Sea-Life Adventure and Adventure Island beforehand, not only will it save the hassle on the day, but it’ll save you money too!

Let the train take the strain | The roads into and around Southend can get busy in the summer, so why not relax on the train with c2c and Greater Anglia instead? Train times are just an hour from London on both lines!

Pay for Parking by Phone | If you’re still set on driving, pay for your parking before your visit with the handy Mobon app, available on IOS and Android. For a full list of car parks visit the Southend Council website.

During Your Visit...

Stop by the Visitor Information Centre (VIC) | The Visitor Information Centre, located at Southend Pier, has a host of friendly assistants that can offer their expert knowledge on all our attractions, places to eat, events and travel information.

Keeping Together | Southend BID manage a simple wristband scheme that aims to help local and visiting families stay safe when they visit Southend. Just grab a wristband from selected venues, fill in your contact details and secure it round your child’s wrist in case they get lost.

Help make Southend Sparkle | Wherever you visit in Southend, all we ask is that you dispose of your litter responsibly or take it home with you. Please help us keep Southend clean and tidy.

Beat the Heat | In hot weather, make sure you keep you and your family safe by following the latest advice from the NHS.

Heading to the Beach?

Explore more of the coast | In peak times, the central seafront gets extremely busy so we recommend taking full advantage of our spectacular seven miles of coastline and find another beach spot further along to spend the day.

Be aware of the tide | Before heading into the water, be sure to check the tide times, because before you know it, you’re cut off from the shore. HM Coastguard Southend and Southend RNLI have tips of enjoying the water safely, or check out our Beach Safety Guide.

Please don’t litter | There are plenty of bins at each of our beaches, so please be sure to dispose of your rubbish responsibly, or take it home with you.
