Southend Pier is the town’s historical icon as well as being the longest pleasure pier in the world! It stretches for 1.33 miles, putting Southend on the map as well as into the record books.

First built as a 600-foot (180 m) wooden pier, based on oak piles to attract Tourism to the town, it was later constructed as the iron pier we know today. Steeped in history the pier is a must-see attraction when in Southend.

Visitors have the option to take the train or take a wander down the walkway. There’s plenty to see and do once you arrive at the pier head.

Escape the hustle and bustle of the busy seafront and take in the stunning views of the Kent coastline while scoffing an ice cream! Why not treat yourself to a sweet treat from one of the cafes or refreshment outlets? Did you know the Pier is also home to the Southend Lifeboat Station and gift shop? Learn more about their life saving work at the ever popular Lifeboat shop.

Whether you walk or take the train or a combination of both, the Pier offers a fun-filled trip for the whole family!
