In this workshop we’ll be exploring themes of identity by using different materials to make bedroom scenes. Join Daisy Blower as they guide you through making your own miniature bed at a 1/25 scale. We’ll be sculpting a miniature representation of our safe havens. The nests we build for ourselves. The places we feel truly reflect our identities and allow us to fully thrive and be comfortable in our own skin.
If you were to build your own nest, what would it look like? What colours would it be, what are on the walls? What are the textures of the floor? What’s the view from your bedroom? What makes the space feel like you?
About Daisy Blower
Daisy Blower (they/them) is a queer, gender fluid artist based in Walthamstow. Sculpting on a miniature scale, their work explores the remnants of a queer life. Their latest series, ‘Nesting Dyke’ explores the queer structures of homemaking and living their queerness. The nests are an effort to disrupt the dollhouses of our childhood and the dens we built to play ‘house’ in. It invites us to imagine queer futures and play with possibility.
Daisy originally learnt how to make scale models and miniatures for their career as a set designer for theatre and have since incorporated these skills into their creative artistic practice.
