Cinderella – Pantomime

Family Pantomime – It’s in the Genes

The Wednesday Players are a local amateur theatre group, who will be returning to the Palace Theatre in January performing their version of ‘Cinderella,’ written and directed by Charlie Hine and Joshua Sweeting.

Charlie and Josh had an idea to try writing Pantomimes together during lockdown, and have written four in total, with plenty more ideas to come.

Last year was the covid comeback show for the group and the young writers had a huge success with their production of ‘Puss in Boots.’   Both are excited to be back in the rehearsal room for this years’ offering of escapism with a perfect mixture of the traditional and modern take on panto.

There’s an interesting family dynamic within the Wednesday Players, in that the writing gene has come through from Charlie’s late Grandfather Joe Kennedy who was a prolific writer of poems, journals and a pantomime called Beastie and The Beaut, which was performed in 1981.  Joe’s wife Meg established the group in 1970.  Both Charlie’s parents Liz and Lee both enjoy performing and helping to organise the group through it’s committee, and Charlie’s twin sister Isobel also treads the boards.

Cinderella will be on at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff 19th to 22nd January 2023. Tickets are from £17 and can be purchased now at a discount in advance by sending an email to the groups’ Treasurer: leehine0359@gmail.com  up until 19th December.
