Thorpe Hall Golf Club
Thorpe Hall Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, Essex, SS1 3ATSince opening for play in 1907, Thorpe Hall has proved to be a fair but stimulating test for golfers of all abilities.
Although modest in length by the standards of modern course design, recent additional fairway bunkers give longer hitters pause for thought while the ever present mature trees that line the majority of the fairways provide the main defence of the course against all players. A wayward tee shot into the trees can often be costly on the scorecard.
Highlight holes include the double doglegged 6th, the 136-yard 13th and the left doglegged 17th. The proximity to the Thames estuary means sea breezes often play havoc with the scoring.
