Rayleigh Mount

Rayleigh Mount, managed by the National Trust, is a property rich in history and wildlife. Once the site of a medieval castle this green oasis is now a lot quieter! The castle is the only one from Essex mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. In its 300 year history, the castle was never attacked.
The area is now an urban wildlife haven and green lung in the heart of Rayleigh Town centre. It offers sweeping views across the Crouch Valley.
Be sure to look out for open-air theatre throughout the summer season.
