Opening Hours: Mon-Fri Closed/Sat-Sun 11am–5pm
Facilities:
  • Gift-Shop

The Museum covers 200 years of the history of Southend Pier. The disasters, the entertainment, the role in the war are all explored with exhibits and displays in this unique museum. There is an original c.1890 electric “toastrack” tram and two other trains that you can climb aboard.

The Museum is also a fun place to visit. There is a working signal box simulator, a train drivers simulated experience and not forgetting “just for fun” old penny slot machines plus much more.

The Museum is free admission but is a charitable foundation, so donations are very welcome.

To locate the Museum entrance, visitors should go into the Visitor Information Centre Reception and then walk to the right of the railway entrance where it is clearly signposted.
