RSPB Wallasea Island is a magical landscape of marshland, lagoons, ditches and sea. Walk along the seawalls to see the saltmarsh, mudflats and lagoons, where terns dive into the water in summer and huge flocks of waders and wildfowl arrive in winter. There are a number of nature trails to enjoy. Please refer to the below for the dog friendly trails.
Allfleets Marsh Trail (public footpath) runs from car park for 3 km along full length of northern seawall. This trail allows dogs under close control.
Jubilee Marsh Trail (permissive path) runs south for 2.4 km to the River Roach from the Allfleets Marsh trail. No dogs on this trail please.
Marsh Flats Trail (permissive path) is a circular 4.4km loop that runs by Acresfleet and Grass Farm Lagoons and around the grazing marsh. A shorter 1.5km loop can be taken. No dogs on this trail please.
South Trail (permissive path) is a linear 2.9km trail that joins the south end of Jubilee Marsh Trail to Marsh Flats Trail. Visitors should walk along the path adjacent to the top of the seawall as the embankment top is narrow and very uneven. No dogs on this trail please.
Please also note, there are no toilet or cafe facilities available at Wallasea Island. For more information on guided walks contact wallasea@rspb.org.uk
